Follow up

I had my follow up appointment after the D&C with Dr. Sloan (OBGYN) this afternoon. She said that there were no complications during the procedure and that there was quite a bit of tissue left so she was glad she did the D&C. The pathologist called her office afterward and said that the tissue had characteristics of a molar pregnancy. Soo...it may or may not have been a molar pregnancy. She said she already did the basic tests for RPL so sent me on my way. Basically we are supposed to keep trying and hope for better luck next time. The HCG blood test came back negative.

I'm discouraged, dissapointed, and losing hope fast.

Steven and I are still fighting and I'm sure most of it is my fault.

Life sucks.

  2. Christina, thats awful. that it may have been a molar pregnancy that is. What rotten luck ! They sent me on my way after my third pregnancy loss too, with no more testing after the fourth. did they suggest that you wait a while to ttc ? I know that with confirmed molar pregnancies, they have people wait a while. Im sort of upset that she told you if she didnt know for sure.

I dont want you to think that Im blowing sunshine, but I do want to just remind you that the odds are very much in your favor for a healthy pregnancy the next time. When youre ready.

    xx

  3. Hello Christina.

I am so sorry for what you're going through. I am dealing with the same thing. Mine was a confirmed partial molar pregnancy. I have to go in weekly for blood work until my HCG levels go down to "0", and then I go back each month so they can monitor my blood to make sure the levels stay at 0. I was told not to get pregnant for at least six months. I hope that yours was not a molar/partial molar pregnancy. Regardless, this is a horrible thing, and I hope you can take some comfort in knowing that you are not alone.
    Hugs,
    Rebecca

  5. I just got AF yesterday- exactly 27 days from my D&C. I hope yours comes soon! I feel like my body is finally getting back to normal. However, AF is SUPERBAD this time! Prepare yourself (red wine and doritos work for me)... ; )

  6. I just had AF also, only a few days later than a normal cycle but man it was pretty bad for two days with the cramping. I had spotting one day, medium the next, then heavy the following day, and it stopped rather abruptly. So strange...

Thanks so much for your kind words everyone.

Rebecca, will you TTC right away?

  7. Christina,
    Yayyyyyy for AF!
I can't TTC until the end of April at the earliest. I had a partial molar pregnancy, and I'm in the weekly-blood-work phase. My HCG is dropping quickly, but is still not at 0. Ugh. I have a lab appointment this Friday, and I'm really hoping this week brings a big fat 0. I went back on the pill to ensure that there's no pregnancy concern until I'm cleared. What a mess! I hope you can TTC right away!

  8. Oh man, what a long wait! I'm so sorry. It's taking a while for your numbers fall then isn't it. I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

  9. Christina,
    Hi! Actually, my numbers are falling very quickly! It's just that doctors suggest a six month wait for partial molars so they can ensure that there is no regrowth of cells (which could lead to cancer). There is research that states that if levels fall quickly, only a 3 month wait is necessary. However, my doctor seems to be old school and/or not up to date on this research. So, I've got to figure out if I'm going to listen to her or listen to my body and TTC after a couple more months (if HCG stays down, of course). I am not sure yet what I should do. UGH! Thanks for your prayers. That means a lot!! {{{hugs}}}

  10. 6 months? wow. No she didn't mention waiting at all. I knew that molar's were cancerous cells or something like that, but didn't know it could grow back. ugh...I HATE TTC. Glad your HCG is falling quickly. Sometimes Dr's don't keep up on the research and us TTCers know more since all we do is scan the net all day. LoL. Go with your gut I say.
